Why Should Ames, Iowa Area Home Buyers Choose Design Homes, Inc.?
Because our homes are built indoors, they can be completed much quicker, as opposed to many months. You won’t see the typical construction delays caused predominantly by weather. All our homes conform to specific Ames, Iowa rules, guidelines and building codes that often surpass those of traditional on-site homes. Nearly all factory-built homes are sold through dealers that act as general contractors for your entire project. While this appears to be a convenience for buyers, it is actually quite expensive and built into the price of the home. We believe that the homebuyer is quite capable of hiring a plumber and concrete contractor instead of letting a dealer do it–you avoid double mark-ups and keep your overall cost down. By building some of the homes in our factory, we are able to keep the home dry during construction and have better quality control. Our quantity purchasing-direct from the various manufacturers-keeps the price per sq. ft. low, and eliminating the dealer means you don’t have to pay a “middleman” to be involved. As a sideline benefit, we are able to allow customers to design their own floorplans at no extra charge.
Quality Custom Modular Homes
Design Homes, Inc. sells factory direct which enables to include more than other Ames, Iowa area builders, and allow customized floor-plans for free. We deliver to 10 states and exceed normal “stick-built” construction specifications. We have always had a policy of low-pressure sales and our employees take pride in their mid-western work ethic. Our salespeople are conscientious, knowledgeable, and competent, and we believe you will find our home buying process unique and fun. We invite all prospective new home shoppers to visit our display home locations to view models and ask questions with no pressure. Our factory is also open for factory tours weekdays at 11:30 in Prairie du Chien, WI.
Check Out Our Classic Series of Factory Built Homes
Our all-new “Classic-Series” homes bring back “the good ‘ol days” when quality-built homes were within everyone’s budget. They are built to the Iowa state codes and are designed for traditional basements or crawlspaces and are ideal for narrow lots, limited budgets or retirement homes…and include our extreme insulation package (R-50 ceilings, 2×6 walls). They can often be set up and ready for “hookups” in one day! We know you will not find a home in the Ames, Iowa area that is built better, includes more or is a better value. Many of the options available in our “Standard” line of homes are also available in our new Classic Series. Need more space? You can simply bump-out a room. Upgrade your cabinets to cherry, birch or maple. Add a patio door or a bow window. Choose an optional forced-air furnace or electric heat.
What is the square-foot-price of a Design Home?
Obviously, a little 36’ ranch with no options isn’t going to be the same price as a 76’ long tri-level with $36,000 worth of options. We build both, though. This question is actually a little misleading. A site-built home often costs around much more–it includes the foundation, on-site plumbing, and hookups. When you add these things to our homes the sq. ft. price is usually somewhere in the much higher range still considerably less than a stick-built home – but it has the same value as one.
